I have compared several schools before my decision. I want to learn Chinese well and I also like to know Chinese culture. And I think the attitude of the teacher, the consultant here are all very positive. I like to stay with them and get the care from th
Last year a close friend had a child. He is an Editor of a magazine and an artist. His wife is a painter. Shortly
after their little baby girl was born I visited them in their new apartment in Beijing. 5 years before I had visited them
in their old apartment. It was a two room apartment with and unattractive stairway with cement stairs. Today they
live in a very attractive apartment complex with a beautiful Japanese style garden where the children can play; it
also has a library and a little café. Unfortunately even with all the new found conveniences one of the most important
couldn’t be purchased; clean air. I stayed with them in Beijing for a week. A short while after returning to Spain I got
a telephone call. They were in a panic because the pollution in Beijing was so bad. I must admit I hadn’t lived in Pollution
like that since I lived in Los Angeles in the early 70. I understood their fear for the health of the child. When I was in Los
Angeles I developed a dry cough I couldn’t get rid of until we moved. This time when I visited Beijing that old cough came
back again. My friends wanted me to help them buy a property in Spain where there was no pollution. I assured them that
they didn’t need to buy a property as I had two too many. The cost of progress anywhere is not always a good thing. It wil
l take years for China to figure out how to resolve the problem of air pollution. It is possible. London Fog is something of the
past. The pollution in Los ageless doesn’t make me cough anymore. If the rest of the world did it so can China. I’m confident
China will resolve its problem.
